Hello hump day!!
Some of our shared highlights of the week so far have been: * being pretty proud of how well one can swing a hammer :-) * the simple act of sharing cold water with a road work team in the middle of a hot afternoon... * Travis finally having success with a mattress staying full of air after the first two nights of being unsuccessful! * the simple pleasure of eating extremely yummy mashed potatoes thru a piping bag... * remembering visiting the French Quarter when six and on this trip, seeing familiar sights... Now on to another great thing happening this time around in NOLA >>> there are only 4 of us down here this year - we are still having terrific dinners catered by Nick - there are always a ton of leftovers - we are able to take the leftovers to the main house for lowernine.org and share the "yum" with mostly college kids that usually only have sandwiches to eat. So much goodness being spread around for all to appreciate is both fulfilling and really gratifying!! For today's work assignments, we finished up our dry walling and had enough material to actually go back over some shoddy work done previously ... sometimes, ya get what ya get from using all volunteers. We have now started taping and mudding ~ which is using goopy stuff to cover the screws we used to secure the dry wall and tape & goop the seams and corners. I hope we finish the rooms by the end of the week. It's great to really feel the accomplishment of your tasks' completion within a week's time. Lights out from your commentator for the day, M.C.
